The design of Yuntian Luguy Ranch focuses on two key aspects: respect for the land and respect for the animals.

The initial idea was to work with the existing landscape and vegetation, making minimal alterations to preserve the natural environment and local characteristics. Upon site investigation, we found that there was a large area of pine trees, so when designing the pathways and cabin locations, we focused on integrating with the trees, giving guests a magical feeling of wandering through the forest. Additionally, there were many hard stones on the ground, which could be ideal for housing animals that like to burrow. The materials chosen for the ranch, including the fences and cabins, are intended to be locally sourced, ensuring that the entire ranch retains a natural and pristine atmosphere.

The second aspect is respect for the animals. Different animals have different habits, and simply keeping them in enclosures doesn’t allow visitors to truly appreciate their charm. For instance, raccoons love to climb trees, so we specifically designed treehouses for them. Similarly, rabbits are most endearing when they are freely hopping around, so instead of keeping them confined in cages, we allow them to live in a semi-free-range environment.

At the same time, the overall ambiance and photogenic spots of the ranch were important considerations in the design. On one hand, the decor was planned with both aesthetic and functional elements in mind. This not only meets visitors’ needs for taking photos but also allows them to genuinely experience the lifestyle of a rancher, making the captured images appear more natural. Additionally, the layout was planned based on the on-site experience. For example, the Corgi area was a key focus of the overall design, so when choosing the orientation of the cabins, we also considered their relationship with the surrounding landscape.

The tea pavilion is located within the Yun Tian Lu Valley Ranch in Ji’an, Jiangxi. Tranquil lakes and dense forests surround the site, creating a gentle separation from the hustle and bustle of daily life through the interplay of tree shadows, sunlight, ripples on the water, and a light breeze. As dusk sets in, the hues of the sky and the water seamlessly blend with the intangible boundaries of the treetops, constructing a horizontal ink painting. At the water’s edge, we aspire for a soft and cloud-like expanse of emptiness, inviting a contemplative stroll and guiding individuals into this serene canvas.
